SO you’re here! and thank you for taking that step! Is it infidelity, pornography, is it being starved emotionally, or just in need of guidance on communication or conflict resolution, my hope is to serve you and create the opportunities to heal!
I would love to assess your situation as you present it and will use a variety of questions and techniques to bring out the root of the issues. Psychotherapy is different and in no way associated with or recognized as a medical or doctor visit. In many ways my program calls for a very active effort on your part. The type of therapy I use can be a wide range of techniques from very intense work based models, I use psychological models, exercises and activities as well as homework, designed for the person, couple and or case and your needs. I will in no way bring faith into a session unless it is something you wish to explore or are ready for, so please do not assume that because I am a Christian counselor that its my only path to healing. I deal with all faiths and respect life.
In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on the things we talk about both during our sessions and at home. You will have homework and intimacy building exercises that will at first seem difficult, you will be asked to step out of your normal self and live a new life that involves meeting with myself, possibly groups, and add a level of accountability you may have never experienced. If you follow this lead, do the work, and CHOOSE to get well I can help you on this journey to a clean satisfying more intimate, more connected life and marriage than you ever realized.
Mountain Hope Counseling was founded on the basis that marriage is not disposable. Through years of dealing with broken men struggling to find their strength to overcome addictions, passivity and fear, I have built a proven program of marriage recovery. In my opinion, unless there is a safety issue due to physical abuse, most all marriages can be saved and made more alive than a couple ever dreamed it could be. Marriage recovery is possible whether the damage is done from infidelity, pornography, lies, passivity or just being married and alone. Instead of living as roommates, the reality of a passionate, deeply connected marriage can join you as true partners, friends, lovers, parents, husbands and wives. Even for isolated and withdrawn spouses, gripped by intimacy anorexia, who cannot express feelings or emotions because they have been shut down by past hurts or abuse, I can help! I have seen firsthand how men can be the catalyst of a healthy marriage when they lead their wives well, being free of their pain, fear and brokenness and becoming the true Knight their wives and families deserve. The truth is you both are 100% responsible for 50% of your marriage! You have entered into a covenant relationship with your spouse or plan to, and in doing so have duties to fulfill on your part. When you said “I DO” it meant signing up for a commitment, a covenant relationship of 30-60 years of the other person’s life, both good and bad, your successes and failures, but more importantly a life of intimacy and connected-ness in every way.
However when we enter into this covenant, there is no manual on how we are to go about honoring and leading this well. At Mountain Hope Counseling I bring the experience to help you heal and rescue your marriage. You may say “Well you don’t know what he or she has done!” and in response, I will say, that in 95% of the cases, "It doesn’t matter." No matter how bad! Phone sessions are available in the event a client is out of town or not able to make a face to face session I can even have one party in office while the other is away by phone.
